The same lockers that were here in 1946 are still here, still cold, still rented.
When this building went up as the Roseville Frozen Food Bank, home freezers were an uncommon luxury. Families rented a locker here and kept a season's worth of meat in it. Eighty years later the appliances in your kitchen have changed and the lockers have not — they still hold a steady temperature, they still have backup power, and people still rent them.

Why people still use them
If you buy a half beef, you need somewhere to put roughly two hundred pounds of packaged meat. A kitchen freezer will not do it, and a chest freezer in the garage costs money to buy, money to run, and fails without warning in July.
A locker here is held at a proper freezer temperature, monitored, and backed up against power loss. That last part matters more than people think. We have watched more than one Christmas get saved by the fact that this building keeps running when the neighbourhood does not.

Access
Come by during store hours, Monday through Saturday 8am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm. Someone will let you in to your locker.
